About Matti Pulkki
Classical Crossover
Helsinki based Matti Pulkki (b. 1991) is an aspiring Finnish classical accordionist. Pulkki performs with different chamber groups and as a soloist, and collaborates frequently with composers. Though concentrating mainly on original accordion music he also arranges, transcribes and performs music from wide range of styles and eras.
Pulkki completed his Master's degree in 2017 at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki as a student of professor Matti Rantanen. He has participated in several international masterclasses with respected accordionists like Mie Miki, Stefan Hussong, Teodoro Anzellotti, Janne Rättyä, Krassimir Sterev, Grzegorz Stopa, Claudio Jacomucci and Geir Draugsvoll. He spent the 2014-2015 academic year in Toronto joining the studio of professor Joseph Macerollo.
